The railway age · Railway
Opened, but no trains yet
8 July 1891 (26 June 1891 old style) Probable
Two days after the opening the paper Akropolis wrote that services would not start at once, probably in about 15 days, because the staff was not yet complete. On the opening day an agreement had been signed handing the operation of the line from Rolin's Belgian company to the Industrial Bank and some Greek capitalists, with part of the profit for the Rolin group.
Note: The Italian Monitore says the rights went in May 1891 to three Greek banks; the details differ.
