Welcome to Myloi
Welcome to Myloi! In our village you will find Lerna, where Heracles fought the Hydra, and the castle, the old station and the harbour. But if you really want to get to know Myloi, talk to the people: the families who have lived here for generations, the newcomers who found their home here, and the villagers who shared their stories and photographs for this site. Do drop by the kiosk. I always have time for a chat about our village.
Babis Kalantzis was elected by the residents as president of the local community of Myloi, part of the municipality of Argos-Mykines. In that role he is the link between the village and the municipality: he passes on what residents need, follows local works and maintenance, and stands up for Myloi when decisions are made about the village. He takes that task seriously: Babis knows what is going on in the village and is always easy to approach.
He also runs the kiosk in the village, the periptero, which his family has kept for several generations. For many residents it is the place to pick up a newspaper or a cold drink, to ask the way or to hear the latest news. Children who finish the station walk collect their paper model of the station there.

Who we are
Visit Myloi is not a company or an agency. It is a project by villagers: people who grew up here, people who made their home here, and people who have kept stories and photographs for generations. Some write, some take photographs, some search the archives, and some simply remember how things used to be. We work together under one name, Visit Myloi, because this is about the village, not about us.
Visit Myloi is non-profit: we have no commercial aim, and everything we do, we do for the village.
Why we do this
Myloi has an enormous heritage, but much of it stays invisible to anyone who just drives through. We want visitors to get to know the village the way we know it. And we want the stories of our older residents to be kept for those who come after us.
What Visit Myloi is
Visit Myloi presents the village of Myloi: its history and myths, its tavernas and places to stay, and practical information for visitors and residents.
Visit Myloi is not a booking platform. We do not take reservations or payments and receive no commission. Links to restaurants and accommodation lead to the businesses' own websites or booking pages.
Where our information comes from
History pages are based on archaeological publications, ancient authors and local research; sources are named on each page. We keep history and legend clearly apart.
Locations of shops, services and places come partly from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Business listings were compiled from public sources and are being confirmed with the businesses; each page shows when it was last checked.
Photography: Visit Myloi, unless stated otherwise. Historical illustrations are credited where they are used.
