The pier is too shallow: the railway must extend it
23 February 1898 (11 February 1898 old style) Proven
A contract of 1898 for the last section of the line obliged the ΣΠΑΠ (article 9) 'to extend the pier of the harbour of Myloi of Nafplio to a depth of three metres'. So there was a pier, but it did not reach deep enough water. In the debates the engineer and MP N. Schinas called it 'this much-plagued railway Myloi–Kalamata'.
Note: The contract of 11 February 1898 (old style) was ratified by law ΒΦΝΓ΄ of 19 March 1898 (old style).
