The Italian garrison fortifies the coast: anti-tank ditch and barbed wire
1941–1943 Probable
Myloi had its own Italian garrison. The Italians took over the fortification of the village against an Allied landing: they dug an anti-tank ditch, laid barbed wire and set up an anti-aircraft unit and gun batteries along the coast as far as Kiveri. Ruined buildings at Lagovouni, near the middle of the bay between Myloi and Kiveri, still survived in 1994.
