Robbers carry off the village councillor
April 1864 – May 1864 Proven
At nightfall a band of more than twelve robbers raided "the village of Myloi of the municipality of Argos". They robbed the councillor (πάρεδρος) Loukas Giannakopoulos and led him bound as far as the bridge of the Almyros, then let him go against a promise of 2,000 drachmas. A soldier and a shop servant were killed; a villager ran to Argos, the church bells rang and cavalry rode out.
Note: The reports are dated 30 April and 5 May 1864 (old style); the raid took place shortly before.
