Colonel Stanhope comes ashore at the mills
25 April 1824 (13 April 1824 old style) Proven
The British philhellene Colonel Leicester Stanhope landed at the mills and went on to Kiveri, where he addressed the Greek senate.
Note: Jourdain gives 13 June for the battle of 1825, the Old Style date also used by the Greek sources, so his dates are taken here as Old Style and converted (+12 days). This is an assumption.
